Note taker
Record a conversation, a lecture or a visit, and get back a transcript that says who said what, with your own notes pinned to the moments they were about. Everything happens on this device. The recording is never uploaded, to us or anyone.
- Never uploaded: no account, no cloud, nothing for anyone to store or lose
- Works out who is speaking, and you name them once
- Spanish, English and fifteen more; switch language mid-conversation
- No time limit, no monthly minutes, no subscription
More options
Keep this page open. The screen stays on while recording.
- Preparing the audio
- Getting the speech models ready
- Working out who is speaking
- Writing the transcript
Drafted on this device from what was said. Each point shows the words it came from; click ▶ to hear them. Click a point to correct it.
Tidy up the transcript
Click a time to hear that moment. Click any words to correct them. Esc plays and pauses, even while typing.
Send to another device uses File transfer: the other device types a code or scans a QR, and the file goes straight across, never through a server.
A draft for you to check against the recording, not a medical record. Every line links to the audio it came from.
Where the recording goes
Nowhere. The audio is recorded into this tab's memory, and the speech models run on this device's own processor. The only things downloaded are the models themselves, once, from Hugging Face; nothing is sent back. So there is no copy on a server, no account holding your history, and nothing for anyone to leak, subpoena or train on.
Privacy mode
On for a clinical visit, and a switch for everything else. While it is on:
- nothing is saved in the browser, so closing the tab ends the session for good;
- the session wipes itself after 15 minutes without use, with a warning first;
- this page stops sending even anonymous usage statistics;
- "Wipe everything now" is always one click away.
For clinicians
Because the recording never leaves your device, we never create, receive, store or transmit your patients' health information. The rest is yours, as with any tool: an encrypted device with a screen lock, and care over where the exported note goes. The transcript is a draft for you to check, not a medical record, and it is not for diagnosis. Several US states require everyone's consent to record a conversation; the consent box is there so asking becomes a habit.
Languages
Pick the language before you start. If the conversation moves between two, pick both: while recording, a button for each appears, and a tap marks the switch. Each stretch is then transcribed in the language it was in. You can also have everything written up in English, whatever was spoken.
Automatic detection is there, but it guesses from the first few seconds and can guess wrong on a short or quiet clip. Choosing the language is always more accurate.
Getting the best transcript
- Put the device between the people talking, not in a pocket or a bag.
- Tell it how many people are speaking if you know; it is then never wrong about that.
- Use Accurate for noisy rooms, strong accents and anything not in English.
- Click any time in the transcript to hear that moment, and correct words by typing over them.
Questions
Is my recording uploaded?
No. It stays in this tab. The models are downloaded to your device and run there.
Is it HIPAA compliant?
No software is HIPAA compliant on its own; compliance is how a practice handles health information. What this tool does is keep that information on your device: we never receive it, so there is nothing for us to protect or disclose. Use it on an encrypted, locked device, as you would any clinical tool.
How long can a recording be?
There is no limit set here. An hour-long lecture works on a laptop; on a phone, memory is the limit, and around an hour is a sensible maximum.
Does it work in Spanish?
Yes, and in sixteen other languages listed in the picker. For conversations that mix Spanish and English, choose both and tap the language as it changes.
How does it know who is speaking?
A small model finds where the voice changes, and another turns each stretch of speech into a voice fingerprint; the same voice gets the same name. It does not know who anyone is, only that two stretches sound like the same person.
Why does the first run take longer?
The speech models are downloaded once, between 130 MB and 360 MB depending on the quality chosen. The browser keeps them, so afterwards it starts straight away.
