Questions.
The things people ask before they hire me, answered properly. If yours is not here, ask me directly and I will add it.
What does a website cost?
There are two different things on offer, and it is worth knowing which you are asking about.
A site in a week is one of my designs filled with your words: $597 once and $39 a month, and you own it. Or $99 a month with nothing up front, where the site stays with me.
Built to order is designed for you rather than chosen from a set. A landing page starts at $469, a basic site at $900, a business site with a CMS at $2,500, and a custom platform at $6,000. The full list is here.
Every one of those is a starting point. Scope moves the number rather than page count, so I quote after a short conversation. Nobody is charged for that conversation.
Can I pay monthly instead of up front?
Yes, on the week-long option. $99 a month, nothing up front, hosting included. You do not own the site under that arrangement, which is the trade.
Pick it if the up-front number is the problem. Pick a build if you want to own what you paid for.
What else costs money?
Email at your own domain is $150 to set up, a Google Business Profile $250, recovering one you have lost $350, moving a domain $75, and DNS setup or migration $150. Only if you need them.
After launch, care plans decide how fast a problem gets caught and how much of my time is yours each month. Work beyond that is $85 an hour, always quoted first.
How long does it take?
About a week, once I have your words and pictures. That last part is genuinely the variable: the build is fast and waiting on content is what makes projects take a month.
What do you need from me?
Your text, your photographs, your logo if you have one, and your hours, address and phone number. If you do not have text, say so at the start and we will work through it together rather than leaving it as the thing that stalls the build.
Can I take payments on my site?
Yes. Stripe or PayPal, depending on which you already use.
On a site I build for you directly, that can be a full checkout on your own pages. On a page you build yourself in the page builder, it is a button that opens a hosted checkout at Stripe or PayPal, because those pages deliberately run no JavaScript. The money arrives the same way; the difference is where the card details are typed.
Can it book appointments?
Yes, wired into Google Calendar so a booking on the site appears in the calendar you already use, rather than in a system you have to remember to check.
Do I get an email address at my own domain?
Yes. Email forwarding at your domain, so you@yourbusiness.com arrives in the inbox you already read. No second inbox to check and nothing new to learn.
Do I need to buy a domain?
If you already own one, I will point it at the site and handle the DNS and the certificate. If you do not, I will help you buy one at cost. I do not mark domains up.
What happens after it launches?
Hosting, the domain, the certificate, backups and small edits are the $39 a month. Larger changes are quoted separately, and I will always say which one something is before doing it.
Will it work on a phone?
Yes, and that is where most of your visitors will be. Every layout is checked at phone, tablet and desktop widths before it goes live.
Can I edit it myself?
Yes. You get an account with the same builder I use, so text, pictures and prices are yours to change without waiting on me. Most people change their hours and prices themselves and ask me for the bigger things.
Do you do 3D, animation or custom features?
On a site I build directly, yes — including three.js and WebGL, custom interactive pieces, and whatever the job actually needs.
The self-serve page builder does not do those, and that is a deliberate trade rather than a missing feature: pages it publishes run no JavaScript at all, which is what makes them fast on a phone and impossible to break. Movement, hover effects, gradients and textures all work there, because those are CSS.
Where are you based? Do you work remotely?
Based in Miami, Florida. Most of the work is done remotely, so where your business is located does not matter, and I am happy to meet in person locally.
Do you do logos or branding?
Not as a service on its own. If you have a logo I will use it, and if you do not, the design will work without one. For a proper identity I would rather point you at somebody who does that all day.
Can you build an online shop?
Selling a few things through a hosted checkout, yes — that is the Stripe or PayPal answer above. A full catalogue with stock levels, variants and shipping rules is a bigger build; ask and I will tell you honestly whether it is a good fit.
Do you do SEO?
The parts that are built in: clean markup, fast pages, a sensible title and description on every page, and your Google Business Profile set up so you turn up in local searches. Ongoing SEO campaigns are not something I sell.
What if I already have a website?
Tell me what is wrong with it. Sometimes the answer is a rebuild and sometimes it is an afternoon of fixes, and those are very different numbers. I will say which one I think it is.
Still deciding?
Tell me about the business and I will tell you what I would build and what it would cost. No obligation and no charge for the conversation.
